Bruce Lee might be China's most famous modern martial artist, butÂa new exhibit opening in Hong Kong aims to show the softer side of the man, with items on display like his eyeglasses and a manuscript of his poetry. The new exhibit premieres on July 20, the 40th anniversary of Lee's death, at the Hong Kong Heritage Museum.
Of course, fans of Lee's martial prowess will also find plenty to enjoy at the museum, which will be showing off Lee's famous yellow and black jumpsuit from the film Game of Death and some of his nun-chucks. But personally, I'm more interested in the personal items from Lee's life off-screen, as what's really interesting about Bruce isn't so much his combative prowess but the ways in which he applied martial arts philosophy to the rest of his life, as discussed in this interview (for example).
If you can't make it to Hong Kong, though, don't fear; the exhibit is also premiering a new documentary on Bruce Lee's life that is sure to be available online or on DVD so that kung fu fans the world over can learn more about Bruce's life outside of the silver screen.
